About the Role:  Our Product Solutions Division (PSD) in Pleinfeld is looking for an Operations Leader. The PSD Division supplies primarily wire & cable and Aircraft Sealing products for our Transformative Systems Solutions (TSS) business group.  The Operations Leader will report to the Plant leadership to support achieving performance goals. The expansion of the existing production capacity in Pleinfeld offers a great opportunity to support and implement a highly productive production environment and new ways of working. The production site is one of the most complex plants in the division and the candidate will have a significant impact on supporting the growth potential of the challenging business.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide people leadership to manufacturing functions while ensuring adequate handshakes with the other supply chain functions in the plant
  • Ensure operations delivers a consistent supply of products to TSS at the expected quality levels, while meeting critical performance indicators
  • Evaluate operations’ goals, metrics, competing polarities, and uncertainties to identify the most important areas of focus by establishing a LEAN manufacturing environment based on the PSD Production System
  • Ensure manufacturing is operated with increasing productivity in a safe and environmentally responsible manner through aligning processes. behaviors, discipline and practices with QMS standards and regulations
  • Execute plant strategic operations direction. Partnering with plant and supply chain leaders to develop plant resource plans, plant capital projects portfolio, shared functions prioritization and resource plans
  • Identify areas of fundamental risk, opportunity, and weakness, and develop and drive improvement strategies in a complex environment
  • Actively participate in Pleinfeld leadership teams to drive alignment of local execution with strategic business plans
  • Support local Plant leader to drive productivity and help implement business strategies to improve TSS business results 

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in a technical, operations/supply chain or equivalent discipline
  • Minimum 10 yrs experience in Supply Chain / Operations / Manufacturing leadership roles 
  • Experience leveraging the Quality System to drive effective execution
  • Successful experience as a coach, mentor and developer of others, with the demonstrated ability of effective performance management and sponsorship
  • Experience effectively championing complex projects where cross-functional influence and support had to be negotiated among competing priorities
  • Demonstrated applied knowledge of building a culture of continuous improvement together with key operations disciplines such as LEAN, Production System, performance metrics, capacity and planning
  • Proven track record of leading a technically complex manufacturing environment while improving productivity
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead a team of diverse Associates through direct and dotted lines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in German and English  
  • Ability to execute and communicate clear operations strategies by organizing and translating complex and sometimes ambiguous information into actionable plans and tangible results
  • Ability to travel 5%
